Commercial Rules calculation enhancements
Overview
We’ve made a number of improvements to pricing calculations to ensure customers see accurate and consistent prices throughout the booking journey.
These changes ensure that:
Prices shown in Quick Select remain consistent throughout the booking process
Fixed tour pricing behaves as expected, even when contract pricing options are enabled
Commercial Rules are applied consistently across all booking stages
Partner-to-partner (Hermes to Hermes) bookings calculate pricing more consistently
Customers no longer experience unexpected price changes between booking steps
Sell at this price
The Sell at this Price option allows you to define a fixed selling price for a tour instance. When enabled, this price is treated as the selling price for the tour and is now used consistently throughout the booking journey.
Previously
In some scenarios, enabling Set Sale Price to Nett on a contract could override the fixed tour price, resulting in customers seeing an unexpected price jump between the Quick Select room choices and the rest of the booking journey.
Now
When Sell at this Price is enabled:
The fixed selling price always takes priority
Contract pricing settings, including Set Sale Price to Nett, no longer override the tour price
Customers see consistent pricing across Quick Select and the rest of the booking journey
Rules are applied to the Sell at this Price
Commercial Rule Processing
Commercial Rules are now processed using a consistent order across all pricing calculations. This ensures pricing remains accurate throughout the booking journey.
Rule Order:
Commercial Rules are applied in the following order:
Tour Commercial rules are applied before Site Commercial rules
Rules configured directly against the tour are applied first. This ensures Site Rules are always calculated from the updated tour price.
Percentage rules are applied before fixed amount rules
Within both types of rule, percentage rules are applied before fixed amount rules
For example, if you have £100 Tour Discount, 10% Site Discount & £10 Site Markup, the £100 will be deducted from the tour price first, followed by the 10% site discount, followed by the £10 markup
‘Currency as filter’ rules continue to apply only when booking in the chosen currency, as per existing functionality
Promo Code Rules
Promo Codes follow the same processing order as Commercial Rules.
This means:
Percentage promo codes are applied before Fixed Amount promo codes
Promo Code rules are only applied once a valid promo code has been entered
Isolation logic for promo codes continue to behave as expected, allowing only one rule to be applied at a time if enabled
Quick Select Pricing
Quick Select pricing has been updated to use consistent pricing with the rest of the booking journey. This means the displayed price now includes all applicable pricing adjustments, including:
Tour Commercial rules
Site Commercial rules
Dynamic Pricing rules
Fixed Tour pricing
Customers should no longer see pricing change unexpectedly after selecting rooming choices & extras.
Optional Extras
Optional extras now follow the same pricing logic as the main tour. Percentage-based rules are reflected in Quick Select pricing, while fixed amount rules do not apply, preserving existing pricing behaviour.
This ensures optional extras are priced consistently throughout the booking journey.
Hermes to Hermes Bookings
Pricing has also been improved for partner-to-partner bookings:
Operator Tour rules are applied correctly
Operator Site rules are applied correctly, depending on configuration
Distributor/Agent Site rules are applied correctly
Processing logic follows the same as described above
Pricing remains consistent from Quick Select through the rest of the booking journey
