Overview

This change adds the ability to set Tiered Base Pricing rules on the number of passengers in a booking

Tiered Pricing: Variable Base Pricing

Tiered Base Pricing allows you to override the base selling price of a tour based on the number of passengers in a booking. 

This provides greater flexibility when pricing group bookings by allowing different passenger positions within a booking to be charged different base prices.

For example:

• Passengers 1-4 on a booking can be charged £500 per person

• Any other passengers over this amount can be charged £250 per person

Tiered Base Pricing only affects the base price of a tour. Any upgrades, supplements, or additional charges are calculated separately.

Before you begin

Tiered Base Pricing is only applied when the Tour Instance is configured to Sell at this Price.

Navigate to: Manage Tours → Tour Instances → Edit specific instance → Sell at this price

If Sell at this Price is not enabled, the standard pricing calculation is used.

Navigate to: Manage Tours → Tour Instances → Commercial Overlay → Tiered Base Pricing

How tiered pricing works

Pricing is calculated based on each passenger's position within the booking.

For example, given you have a standard base price of £500, and you have a rule applied to passengers 2-4 at £250 per person, the booking results would be as follows:

Tiered Base Pricing only affects the base price of a tour. Any upgrades, supplements, or additional charges are calculated separately.

Passenger Bands

Pricing bands apply only to the passenger positions you define.

If a passenger is not covered by a pricing band, they are charged the standard base price.

In the example above:

• Passenger 1 pays the standard base price (£500)

• Passengers 2–4 pay the tiered price (£250)

• Passenger 5+ returns to the standard base price (£500)

  
  

Booking-based pricing

Tiered Base Pricing is calculated per booking, not across all bookings for a departure.

For example:

If your rule applies to passengers 1–4, then every new booking starts counting from passenger 1 again.

A booking for two passengers will always price those travellers as passengers 1 and 2 within that booking, regardless of how many passengers have already booked the departure.

Base Price vs Total Tour Price

Tiered Base Pricing only overrides the base tour price.

The total booking price may also include:

• Accommodation upgrades

• Room supplements

• Optional extras

• Other pricing rules

  
  

These charges are added after the base price has been calculated.

Viewing Tiered Pricing

When Tiered Base Pricing applies to a tour instance, the Instance Manager displays an indicator showing that a pricing override is active.

If no Tiered Base Pricing applies, the standard base price is displayed.
